Aqua Future Spain 2025
Vigo, Spain – May 2025 — The Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana is calling on Spanish investors and aquaculture stakeholders to explore Ghana’s mariculture potential, delivering a clear investment pitch during Aqua Future Spain 2025, held in Vigo.
Aqua Future Spain 2025: Ghana Highlights Mariculture Investment Potential
At the international aquaculture exhibition, Mr. Jacob Adzikah, CEO of the Chamber, addressed participants from across the aquaculture value chain, emphasizing the need for strategic investment in Ghana’s ocean-based fish farming sector. He stated that with marine fish stocks in decline and local demand rising, Ghana presents a timely and profitable opportunity for investors looking to scale sustainable seafood production.
“Mariculture offers untapped value for any investor with the right technology and vision,” Adzikah said. “We are ready to partner.”
Ghana Seeks Partners to Reduce $250 Million Seafood Import Bill
Ghana currently imports over $250 million worth of fish annually. Mariculture is being positioned as the most viable alternative, especially with wild fish stocks under pressure from overfishing, climate change, and pollution.
The Chamber used the Aqua Future Spain 2025 platform to outline specific incentives:
-
5-year corporate tax holidays for aquaculture businesses
-
Tax exemptions on imported equipment and fishing inputs
-
A transparent legal and regulatory framework to protect investor interests
Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana: “We’re Open for Business”
According to Adzikah, Ghana’s marine ecosystem, business-friendly climate, and policy support create a compelling case for foreign investment. He urged members of Cluster Acuiplus and Spanish aquaculture players to consider Ghana as a top destination for expansion.
“With the right partnerships, Ghana can lead West Africa in farmed fish production,” he said.
